Staff Selection Commission

SSC Stands For Staff Selection Commission; it is a very important organization of the Indian government that conducts recruitment exams for various posts in various departments and ministries.

SSC is considered a major body of the Department of Personnel and Training, this body is run by a chairman, two members, and a secretary-cum-controller of examinations. SSC also stands for Secondary School Certificate; this exam is conducted by many boards like CBSE and state boards for 10th-grade students.

SSC was established in the year 1975; it has been active since then recruiting staff for Group B and C posts. SSC conducts various exams for this post and then finally they select the eligible candidate

Educational Qualification:

Candidates applying for the various posts need to have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university at the time of applying. Apart from this there will be additional requirements that the candidates need to fulfill to be eligible to apply.

Age Limit:

The age requirements vary from posts to post. But generally it is between 20 and 30 years. Also there are certain age relaxation criteria for the reserved candidates.

The exam is held by Staff Services Commission. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) was established in 1975, it is mandated to select staff for various Group B and Group C posts that come under various ministries in the Government of India. SSC also recruits for non-ministerial posts. Each year SSC conducts pan India exams like SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SSC JE, SSC GD, SSC CPO, SSC MTS, and SSC Stenographer exam. What is SSC CHSL Exam?

Railway Recruitment Board Junior Engineer (RRB JE)

To be eligible for the RRB JE exam, the candidate must be an Indian national and should have a three-year Engineering Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering/Electronics/Electric/Manufacturing/Tools & Die Making/Industrial/Machining/Instrumentation/Automobile & Machining/Civil and Control/Tools Engineering from a recognized university or institute. A Junior Engineer in the railway is placed under Pay Scale 2, with a basic salary ranging from 9300 to 34500 and a grade pay of 4200. Age Limit, Marital Status, and Gender

Eligibility criteria for different courses under the CDS exam are as follows: For Indian Military Academy (IMA) - Unmarried male candidates should have been born between 2nd January 1998 and 1st January 2003.

For Indian Naval Academy - Unmarried male candidates should have been born between 2nd January 1998 and 1st January 2003.

For Air Force Academy - Candidates should be aged between 20 and 24 years as on 1st January 2022, i.e. they should have been born between 2nd January 1998 and 1st January 2002. Candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) can be up to 26 years old, i.e. they should have been born between 2nd January 1996 and 1st January 2002.

Note: Candidates who are below 25 years of age must be unmarried. Married candidates who are above 25 years of age are eligible, but they will not be provided with any family accommodation or allowed to live outside the premises with their family. For Officers' Training Academy (OTA) (SSC Course for men) - Unmarried male candidates should have been born between 2nd January 1997 and 1st January 2003. Male divorcee/widower candidates will not be treated as unmarried.

For OTA,( SSC Course for women)-Unmarried women who were born between 2nd January 1997 and 1st January 2003 , women who are divorced without any children and widows without any children who have not remarried are also eligible.

Educational Qualification

The minimum educational qualification for admission in these institutes is a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university. Note- It is mandatory for candidates who have listed Air Force/Navy/Army as their first choice in the application to provide proof of graduation/provisional certificate on the first day of their SSB Interview. Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are eligible to apply, provided they have no backlogs at the time of application and have paid the examination fee

Physical and Medical Standards

In terms of physical and medical fitness, UPSC has specific guidelines which also list medical conditions or diseases that may disqualify a candidate. Permanent body tattoos are only allowed on the inner side of the forearm, from elbow to wrist, and on the reverse side of the palm or back of the hand. Tattoos on any other part of the body are not permitted.

Height and Weight Standards

The minimum height and weight standards for eligibility vary according to the stream. For women, the minimum height required is 152 cm, and for men, it is 157.5 cm (162.5 cm for Air Force and 157 cm for Navy). Candidates from Gorkhas and North-eastern hilly regions, Garhwalis, and Kumaonis are allowed a relaxation of 5 cm in height, while candidates from Lakshadweep can relax up to 2 cm. National Defence Academy (NDA) Exams

NDA Eligibility Criteria

The UPSC has released the NDA 2023 notification, and candidates are advised to carefully read through it for in-depth details.

Conditions of Eligibility

In order to be eligible, candidates must meet all of the mentioned conditions.


They must be citizens of India, or subjects of Nepal, or persons of Indian origin who have migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zaire, Zambia, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of settling in India permanently. A certificate of eligibility is required for all candidates except for those who are citizens of India.

Age Limit, Marital Status, and Gender

To be eligible for this opportunity, individuals must be unmarried males with a birth date between July 2, 2002 and July 1, 2005, inclusive. The birth date provided must match the date of birth listed on their matriculation or 12th certificate, and proof of age must be submitted following the exam results. It is not permitted for candidates to marry until after completing the training. If a candidate marries after the exam results are declared, they will no longer be eligible for training. If a candidate gets married during training, they will be discharged and required to reimburse the government for any expenses incurred during their training.

Educational Qualification

A candidate is required to pass a minimum 12th Board examination to apply for NDA/NA exam.

Education Qualification - NDA Eligibility For the Army Wing of NDA- 12th Class pass the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board a University.
